La typologie des habitats naturels de La Réunion (TDHR) a été établie en 2000 par Dupont & al., puis régulièrement diffusée et utilisée ponctuellement par différents acteurs de la gestion, de la connaissance et de la préservation du patrimoine naturel.

Validée par le CSRPN en 2007, puis intégrée au référentiel national Habref en 2017, elle est progressivement devenue la référence de l’état des connaissances sur les habitats à l’île de La Réunion en terme typologique. La typologie se traduit sous la forme :
